Teaching a horse to stand still without a headcollar
How do you teach a horse to stand still in the aisle without a headcollar? I want to teach my horse to stand still in the aisle without a headcollar or any other equipment. It shouldn't be tied to anything, just stand still on its own, and it shouldn't run off while it's standing there without a headcollar.

Hello! The first thing to work on is confidence. There are several ways to do this, using different training methods.
You build confidence by letting the horse investigate the surroundings where you want it to be able to stand still. Let it sniff and explore every part of the space until it has familiarised itself and feels at ease with everything there. Now you can "park" the horse where you want it to stand. If it wanders off, let it investigate whatever caught its curiosity, then park it again. It then gets a sense of where it has its break, along with a feeling of freedom.
Remember that this is something to work on over time 🙂
