Holding the canter and canter strike-offs

I ride a C pony every Saturday at my riding school. He's 6 years old and super sweet. He's very forward and keen over fences but gets more tired when it comes to dressage and groundwork. I'd love some tips on how we can hold the canter and get the canter strike-offs more reliable. And some fun exercises we can do too! No jumping.

Practising the canter strike-off over a pole can be a clever way to work on it. As for holding the canter and not breaking, it depends a little on whether the horse breaks because it is not yet strong enough, or because it loses impulsion. If it loses impulsion, it can help to keep the horse active by asking it forward and back within the pace, moving it sideways a step or two, riding across the school and so on. Good luck! 😊
