Balance exercises for riders
Do you have any tips on balance exercises for riders?
Answers from HayHay's experts
Hello.
π΄ Working on your balance off the horse is really worthwhile. For example, I tend to:
- do calf raises, on both one and two feet, while brushing my teeth
- sit on a pilates ball and practise gently lifting one foot at a time without holding on
- stand on a balance board and feel how I shift my weight forwards and back
π Mounted balance exercises can include:
- holding the reins in one hand and stretching the other arm straight out to the side
- riding in light seat in all gaits, but without balancing on the reins
- varying the number of strides you sit and stand when rising to the trot
Good luck! π¦
