Following the horse with my shoulders over fences
I find it hard to follow the horse with my shoulders over the fences. I'm quite nervous and tend to get a bit tense through my upper body, so I don't really follow the horse's jump. Do you have a good way to get better at this, or how do you think about following with your shoulders without throwing yourself forward? 😌

Hi! I think you should look at finding better stability overall. First of all, you need a good saddle that helps you sit in a position where your feet fall naturally straight under your centre of gravity. Over the fence, you want to stand easily in two-point with your balance in the stirrups, without gripping with your knees or lower legs. To come up into two-point, start by bringing your shoulders forward, then lift your seat without your head rising any higher above the horse. I hope that helps. 🙂
