Clipping in autumn - should you clip again?

What do you all do about clipping at this time of year? Now that the competition season is over it doesn't feel worth clipping the horse, but it's a bit of a pain when they get sweaty after every ride now they're so fluffy🙈 Should you clip again or not? 😇

Hi!

🐴As a rule, it is good to hold off clipping for as long as you can. Horses need their coat to keep their body temperature up at this time of year. Even though we can, and must, replace the coat with a rug, a rug never works quite as well as the horse's own coat.

🐴 If you are struggling with a horse that sweats heavily and does not dry off before you need to turn it out in the paddock, for example, you can clip just the areas that get wettest, often the underside of the neck. There are websites that suggest different clip patterns if you would rather not clip your horse out fully.

🐴 It is also important to help the horse cool and dry as best you can. Do not pile thick rugs onto a wet horse unnecessarily.

Good luck!🦄
