Can you jump Icelandic horses?

Can you jump Icelandic horses? I'm going to try out an Icelandic horse and I love jumping, but can I jump on an Icelandic and maybe do a pay and jump, or are pay and jumps only for "normal" horses?
Answers from HayHay's experts

Hello! Icelandic horses can absolutely jump. I have a friend who competed up to 1 metre with hers. Teaching them to jump 50 to 60 cm goes well for most of them. Naturally you have to allow for the individual horse, since not all of them enjoy jumping. Take it steady, and perhaps begin with loose jumping so you can see what technique your horse has 🙂
