First riding camp - what should I think about?

I've been at a riding school for a few years but never been to a riding camp. It's going to be so much fun but I'm also a bit nervous! What should I think about?

Hi!

How lovely that you are off to a riding camp 🤩

Those were always my best weeks of the summer 🥰🐴

If I were you, these are some of the things I would think about:

1. Be clear with the people running the camp that it is your first time at a riding camp, and that you would rather not have too difficult a horse or do exercises that are too hard. It is nice to be able to relax and learn as much as possible 😊 The people who run camps are usually brilliant at spotting which horse suits you, and it is fine to ask to swap horses if it does not feel right.
2. Take plenty of changes of clothes: underwear, socks and jodhpurs if you have them. It is good to be able to change if you get sweaty or wet when it rains.
3. Take riding gloves. If you are not used to riding as often as you will at camp, you can easily get a bit of rubbing.
4. Take a cuddly toy if you are sleeping over at the camp. It is comforting if you get homesick 🥰
5. Have a brilliant time! You are sure to make memories for life and learn loads 👏🏼

Good luck! Do ask again if you are wondering about anything else 🦄🐴
