I don't feel like I match with my horse
What should you do if you don't match with your horse? I was silly not to try my "new" horse before buying (I've only had her 2 months) and she went really nicely for her previous owner, but she's competed at advanced level so that's not surprising, but when I ride her it's like a beginner riding, if you know what I mean. It feels like nothing changes anymore and we don't have access to the trainer we need either. My parents don't want to buy a new horse either because they like this one I've got and reckon I won't like the next one either 🙄

Feeling that a horse goes worse or differently after changing owners is incredibly common. Some would even say it comes with the territory. The previous owner had built their own communication with the horse, and now the horse has to get to know a new rider with new signals. As the rider, you have to work out how the horse likes to be ridden, and it often takes time for the horse to settle into a new home too. Many people feel inadequate and unsure when the horse does not go as it did for the previous owner. The same thing happens when elite riders take on a new horse. People say it can take a couple of years to know a horse fully, so give it time and lower your expectations. Good luck!
