Improving the relationship with my horse
I want a better relationship with my horse and for us to trust each other more. What are some good exercises?

How lovely that you want a better relationship with your horse! One thing that works really well is spending pressure-free time together.
Examples:
- Go for walks and let her graze (when there is grass)
- Groom and have a fuss (if the horse enjoys being groomed). See whether the horse has a spot she likes being scratched. If she does, it is also very useful in training as a relaxing break
Work the horse from the ground. In a headcollar and lead rope, for example, start by leading her and making halt and walk transitions, turning around cones, going over poles, and doing some environment work (walking over a tarpaulin, past colourful umbrellas, past balloons that move about, and so on). Take frequent breaks and give the horse plenty of praise. Never punish the horse for getting something wrong.
Think about what your horse seems to enjoy doing and do plenty of it 😊
