Information about a stallion

How do I find information about the stallion Fetcher N to breed with my mare?
Answers from HayHay's experts

How exciting that you are thinking about breeding a foal. The first step is to consider which qualities you want the foal to have, and whether your mare meets those wishes. A stallion such as Fetcher N can strengthen and compensate for certain traits, but remember that half of the foal's genes come from the mare.

For Fetcher N specifically, you can find plenty of information on blup.se (a Swedish breeding database). There you can see his breeding index and how his offspring perform compared with other horses of the same breed. Fetcher's offspring have received average scores for walk and trot, while the canter appears to be above average. You can also see a summary of his offspring that have been presented at young horse gradings.

When it comes to the scores for his gaits, it is important to remember that the assessments were made several years ago, and the standards may have shifted over time. What was once considered an 8 or a 9 cannot be viewed the same way today, because the overall quality of horses has improved.

If you would like to see videos of his gaits, it is best to contact the stallion's owner for more information and any footage.

Good luck with your breeding plans.
