Lame horse at a competition, what should you do?
A while ago I was at a competition with my pony and came across a pony that was clearly lame on the left hind. The person didn't notice anything and competed anyway, though they were eliminated, which is obviously understandable if the horse is in pain. What I'm reacting to is that the officials didn't do anything. What should you do?

Hi!
🐴 How upsetting that you saw a lame horse at a competition. It does happen, but both the owner and the officials running the event should have spotted it. What level was the competition? A veterinary inspection is not compulsory at the lower classes.
🐴 I would have told the president of the ground jury or the organisers, rather than confronting the rider directly. Emotions can run high at a competition, and you might not get the reaction you expect. It is better for someone whose job it is to keep an eye on these things to speak to them.
