Choosing a new helmet
When you buy a new helmet, the important thing is that it is CE-marked, which means it meets specific safety standards. Where you can, choose a riding helmet with MIPS protection too. MIPS is an extra safety system that reduces the rotational force on the head and spreads the force if you come off. It makes a real difference to your safety.
Beyond that, the helmet needs to sit firmly, neither too big nor too small. Remember that everyone has a different head shape, so what suits your friend will not necessarily suit you. Do not buy a second-hand helmet either, as it may have taken a knock or been dropped, and then it will not protect you as well.
I wear the Back on Track EQ3 Lynx myself and find it good value. Good luck choosing your helmet!
