Where should the stirrup sit?

How do you keep the stirrups on your toes? I find it hard to keep the stirrups on my toes as they often slide back onto the foot, especially when jumping. I'd really like some tips on how to more easily keep the stirrups on my toes 😊
Answers from HayHay's experts

Hi! It is actually a common misconception that the stirrup should sit right out on the toes. For the most stable seat with good balance, where you load the horse as little as possible, the best place for the stirrup is on the widest part of the foot, in other words behind the toes 🙂 This puts your centre of gravity (roughly level with the navel, in the middle of the body) directly over your feet, which gives you balance. So give it a try next time you ride!
