What tack do you use most for jumping training and competition?

What kind of tack do you use most on the horse when training over jumps? And at competitions too?
Answers from HayHay's experts

Hi! When you are schooling over jumps, you do not really need anything beyond your usual riding kit.

🐴 It is much easier to find a good position and stay balanced in a jumping or general-purpose saddle than in a dressage saddle 😊

🐴 For the bridle, use whatever works well on your horse.

🐴 Some form of tendon boot on the front legs is a good idea, and a pair behind does no harm either, though it is not always necessary.

🐴 A body protector for you is excellent πŸ‘

🐴 If this is your first time jumping, put on whatever you and your horse feel comfortable with and are used to. You can then talk to your trainer about anything that needs changing or adding for next time.

πŸ¦„ At a competition, aim again for tack that you and your horse are happy in. Avoid piling on new bits of kit that distract and may spoil the experience.

Good luck and have fun! πŸ˜ƒπŸ¦„
