Girth size, how do you measure?

I need a girth for one of my horses but I do not know what size to get or how I work out which size I need.
Answers from HayHay's experts

Hello!

It is hard to give general advice on the type or size of girth. It depends on things like the horse's build and what it likes, plus the position and length of the saddle's billet straps.

🐴It matters that the girth is not too short, so you can easily do it up to the first hole. Remember too never to girth up too tightly.

🐴If you measure from one side of the saddle to the other, under the horse's belly, you get a feel for how long the girth needs to be. Perhaps you could buy on a sale-or-return basis and try it?

Good luck! 🦄
