Permitted bits in competition

Hello! To be sure which bits are permitted in dressage competition in Sweden, check the Swedish Equestrian Federation's rulebook, TR 2, which covers dressage. (UK riders should check the current British Dressage rules instead.) It includes a bit annex with pictures of the approved bits. The rules can change over time, so it is always best to look at the latest version.

Remember that it is important to choose a bit your horse is comfortable with, one that suits its level of training and the shape of its mouth. Some horses have plenty of room for various types of bit, while others need more careful selection. It is worth asking your equine dentist at the annual check, as they can give specific advice on your horse's tack. Good luck!
