Ringworm at the riding school - risk of spreading it?

Hi! I could use some help. I ride both at a riding school and at a private yard. The riding school suspects that two of the horses have caught ringworm. They had ringworm earlier this autumn but it cleared up. I'm not sure whether I should go to my riding lesson at the school tomorrow, I don't want it spreading between the different yards. I'm usually careful about washing my clothes, but I'm not sure what to do about my body protector, hat and boots. What do you think I should do?😕
Answers from HayHay's experts

Hi! It is great that you are asking and thinking about the risk of carrying the infection further. Keep separate clothes, footwear and other kit for the two yards you ride at. Shower yourself thoroughly, and wash any clothes you have worn at the yard at 60°C. There is more to read on the website of the Swedish Veterinary Agency (SVA), and I will add a link below. (UK readers can find equivalent guidance through their own vet or the BHS.)

Contact the riding school too and ask how they recommend you, as pupils, handle visits to other yards. The riding school should have a plan in place to isolate sick horses and disinfect the premises.

Fingers crossed it all works out🦄😊
