Which supplements can help my Icelandic horse with a sensitive stomach?
Hi! I bought my gelding about a month ago, so he hasn't been with me long. I phased him over using the hay I got from his previous home, and he went from hay to haylage. He gets the same hard feed as before, Icelandic Natural from Granngården.
As expected, his stomach went off, but it still hasn't settled. Otherwise he's in good general condition, he's bright, happy and drinking as he should. What can I give to make things easier for him? Probiotics, prebiotics, more fibre? Grateful for any tips! He's an Icelandic and so a very good doer.

Hello! Since he is still so new, I would hold off and give it a bit more time. Even though you have phased in the new feed, the gut flora can take a while to adapt to it. As long as his general condition is good, there is no real problem. If it does not settle within another month or so, you could look into getting hold of dry hay. Some horses simply do not seem to cope with haylage, and in that case the best option is just to feed dry hay.
