What's the difference between oats and rolled oats for horses?

Hi, what's the difference between oats and rolled oats? Which is best to give a horse?
Answers from HayHay's experts

Hi! Rolled oats are simply oats that have been crushed. Most horses do not need their oats rolled, since they chew the grains down themselves. If your horse bolts its feed or has poor teeth, though, rolling the oats can help. Rolled oats keep less well than whole oats, so once oats have been rolled they should be fed within a few weeks.
