Bringing a horse back into work after rest and weight loss

My share horse has had a good while off and also lived somewhere where they had poor feed, so she's very thin, very unfit and has very little muscle. Has anyone got any tips on what I can do ❤️ I just want her to feel as good as possible.

Getting her weight back on track is priority one. That is a good reason to give the comeback plenty of time. Focus on walk over different surfaces, use cavaletti, and lead her up hills in hand. This also strengthens the joints and tendons.

For feed, get the forage analysed so you know the values, and give as much as you can. Ad lib is often best if you are able to manage it. Beyond that, you can use the analysis to top up with extra protein or energy, for example. She also needs minerals, though the type depends on the mineral content. Good luck, and I hope she picks up quickly!
