Daring to compete - stage fright

How do I find the courage to compete in the beginners' jumping at my riding school? I want to take part in the beginners' jumping (a little jumping thing my riding school puts on), but so many people are watching and there are other riders jumping after or before me too. I'm so nervous that I don't dare. Any tips on how not to get "stage fright"?
Answers from HayHay's experts

The best tip for getting less scared of competing is to practise competing! The more times you do it and face your fear even though it frightens you, the more you give your confidence the chance to grow with the task. It is okay to be nervous πŸ’• It is not a bad thing or a sign that you cannot do it. It is a natural reaction to a situation where you want to perform well. Try to focus on what you want to do, and accept the nerves πŸ™πŸ»
