Fear after coming off
First of all, it is completely natural to feel afraid after a fall. Most of us who are active in equestrian sport get frightened at times. We work with large animals, and when something happens it often happens fast. Part of being around horses is accepting that we cannot control everything. We can work on staying safety-conscious, but we are handling flight animals and nothing is without risk.
When fear takes hold, it often helps to work on your relationship with the fear itself. We assume we need to get rid of the fear, but the real problem is usually that we become afraid of the fear, and then we let it control us. Remember that you can still do what you want to do despite the fear, alongside it. Take it step by step and lean on your riding instructor or coach for support. By challenging yourself in small steps, the fear will gradually fade. Good luck! 💫
