Fear of jumping after falling off with concussion

About a year ago I flew off while jumping. The horse had barely landed before he stumbled with his forelegs and almost put his knees into the ground, and I landed right on my head. It was fine, but ever since I've been scared of jumping. Haven't jumped since. So I'm wondering if anyone has any tips on how I can dare to jump a bit more and higher again, since jumping has really been my main focus. When I jump out over logs and so on I'm not scared, it's in the arena/indoor school, since that's where I flew off. 🙈🤍

It sounds completely natural that you have become scared after an accident like that. Fear is one of the trickiest things for us in horse sport to deal with, because we handle large flight animals and accidents happen often. A small dose of fear, which is really respect, is something we need to carry with us.

We often think we have to get rid of the fear in order to do what we want. The truth is that we usually have to do the thing that frightens us, in small steps and gradually, for the fear to fade. Having a trainer for support is a good idea, someone who helps you challenge the frightening scenarios bit by bit.

Remember too that you need to give yourself time. You will feel more and more trust again, but it often takes a little patience and being kind to yourself along the way ❤️
