Jumping fear after the fences were lowered

Jumping fear... I still think jumping is fun, but when my instructor calls out my name the lump in my stomach grows... I loved jumping before, but then we lowered the fences and it sort of got scary. I don't know if it's because I fell off a few weeks ago when we were jumping, but I don't think so. Please help, how do I get rid of the jumping fear?
Answers from HayHay's experts

There are many reasons why we become frightened. Fear is completely natural, and we sometimes feel stressed when it turns up and decide we have to be rid of it. That often makes us try to push it away, and then there is a risk it grows bigger and we become afraid of the fear itself. Fear eases when we take care of it and let it be there. It lessens as we gradually show it that it is safe to do the thing that frightens us. It usually helps to take it step by step and to try to accept the fear. You can do what you want to do alongside it. If you do this and gradually take on more of what scares you, your confidence will grow and become greater than the fear. We just need to be patient, give it time, and be kind to ourselves 💫
