Getting over the fear of jumping

How do you get over the fear of jumping? I'm scared of jumping because my horses often stop before the fence and it doesn't help no matter how much I push them on.
Answers from HayHay's experts

If the horses stop repeatedly, always rule out pain first. It is wise to have the vet check them over to make sure everything is as it should be.

Beyond that, accept your fear so that you can acknowledge it and manage it. Fearing the fear itself often makes it grow. How do you ride when you are not afraid? Try to find the concrete cues, such as relaxed shoulders and soft hands, and focus on those.

And finally, give yourself time and do not rush. Give the two of you good experiences, go back to groundwork and rebuild your confidence. 🌷
