Being there when my horse is put down

I'm going to be there when my horse is put down. How do you cope with something like this afterwards? Right now it feels okay, but I don't know how I'll react once the horse has been put down. Do you have any tips? ๐Ÿ’”โค๏ธ
Answers from HayHay's experts

Everyone is different in situations like this, and that is okay. Some people really want to be there for those final moments, while others find it too hard.

There is no right or wrong, and no one way is better than another. Try to remember that there is nothing you "should" do.

Think a little in advance about what you will do afterwards to look after yourself. Plan something gentle, like watching a film with a friend or your family. Not being on your own is a good idea ๐Ÿ’ž
