How do you move on from a bad ride?
How can you more easily move on from a rubbish ride?
Answers from HayHay's experts
For most people, the key is realising that your VALUE as a person does not rest on how well you ride, but on who you are. As riders we often tie our identity to how we perform in the saddle, and that is a pattern worth trying to break.
It can help to reflect after a ride on two questions: what went WELL, and what do I want to do differently next time? Then put a limit on how long you let yourself dwell on it. I tend to think through those questions in the car on the way home from the yard, and after that I let the day's ride go and get on with other meaningful things 😊
