Self-confidence in riding

My confidence in my riding is pretty low right now and I have no idea how to lift it. Being at the yard and everything is fun, but it's the riding itself that's the thing. I'm fired up beforehand, but then when I watch videos my feeling about the session drops. How can I lift it?

Plenty of people will recognise this. It is lovely that you are sharing it. I want to remind you that sometimes it is the other way round: the feeling is awful, but on the video it looks good.

Think about what you want to use to judge your rides. "The feeling" can be a bit vague across a whole session, whereas a video only tells you what the eye sees. Choose to assess the warm-up, the working part of the session and the cool-down. Be concrete and pick one focus for your ride, for example working on your communication through the transitions, keeping your aids as small as possible and getting soft transitions. Then you can easily judge how those particular transitions went and how they felt. Think of one thing you did well, and one thing you want to keep working on.

Very best of luck πŸŒ·πŸ™πŸ»πŸ’«
